In Uganda, the standard gorilla trekking permit which allows you one hour with a habituated gorilla family is priced per person depending on your residency category. For foreign non‑residents it costs USD 800, for foreign residents USD 700, and for East African citizens the fee is about UGX 300,000. These permits are issued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority and are valid for trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. There’s also an optional gorilla habituation experience permit, which is more expensive and allows up to four hours with the gorillas. Booking early is essential, especially in peak seasons.
